Happiness is about not wanting to be anywhere else.

... not in a different country, not in a different house, not in a different body. Not with a different person, not in a different season, not with the different thoughts.

It's about taking three "oulds" out of the vocabulary: "I could. I would. I should."
_
Happiness is not about being satisfied with little. It's about being in the right place and knowing it.
_
This right place, however, is not a one final destination that we can reach once and forever. It's only right for us at this very moment, at this stage of life, in our current state and our immediate environment. It's forever transient.
_
Yet, happiness is about not wanting to be anywhere else.

5 lessons from 5 years of marriage

I wrote this article a few months ago, during a sleepless night somewhere in transit. I thought I wrote about the marriage - but when I re-read the lessons, I realized that they are true for any close relationship. The thing is, we don't have that many of them in our entire lifetime.

Some psychologists say that the only purpose of a marriage is mutual growth. Others claim that the reason for us to club together as couples, is to help each other heal from childhood traumas.
A less popular opinion states that it's just plain boring to go through thick and thin of life alone. When you have a partner, after all, you've got someone to share a pizza on a Friday night with, and someone to occasionally blame in all your misfortunes.
As for me, I feel that modern philosophies largely underestimate the power of real, genuine love.

💓 Happy St. Valentine's to all. No matter what your feelings about this day are - I'd rather have a global date that celebrates love, than not. For some, daily "I love you" might be the norm, and the heart shaped balloons have no meaning beyond an ecological disaster. But for someone young and shy, it might be just they day they've been waiting for, to find the courage they didn't know they had.

When I asked my mom about death she gave me an answer I will never forget.

I was little, but grown up enough to pose uncomfortable questions. At times, before voicing them to the adults, I'd think for days or even weeks over the matter, trying to find the answer myself, in my own imagination.

That year I was may be 7, may be 8. The worry about death was creeping in slowly. I wanted to understand, how can it be, that when somebody dies, everything ends. I was trying to imagine how it might feel, on a physical level, when you are living your life, with all of your feelings, emotions, relationships, and then suddenly ... There is just nothing.

My family was not religious and I was looking for an answer on a very simple, physical plane.

So, I came to my mom, and asked: "Mom, when we die, does absolutely nothing happen? That's it? Finita la commedia?" Mom, who was at that very moment planting some flowers in her garden, replied: "Why do you say so? Of course something happens. So many things happen. When we are gone, we become part of the Earth. And then in that soil a flower grows. And then a cow eats that flower and grows. And then a child drinks milk from that cow and grows. And it never stops. You see, in reality, we never die, we keep living, just in a different form." __
Two days ago a mother of my dear friend passed away. Each time I look at my friend, I see so much of her mother. For the first time I fully understood, what the answer of my mom really meant.
